Imo gives you the chance to integrate all of your instant messaging networks into a single interface on your browser. Keep track of all of your conversations at once without having to go from one network to another, frequently losing track of your conversations on account of having multiple windows open at the same time. If you prefer to have a separate client outside of your web browser, there is also a desktop version. Once you connect all of your networks, staying on top of all of your conversations is easy.
Although the client works well for base usage, there are some drawbacks. For one thing, it is a base application, meaning that it performs basic functions but does not look snazzy or give you the opportunity to customize different aspects of your conversations. For example, you can’t use different colors or fonts the way you would be able to in AOL Instant Messenger. You also won’t be able to put icons into your conversations, such as the popular smiley faces that are popular on Facebook. If you only use one type of messenger, you probably won’t want to make the change. If you find yourself juggling multiple ones, though, this one can make your computer usage easier.
